When you live on the Big Island, friends and friends of friends start asking for “your itinerary”. I kept writing the same long messages: base yourself here, not there; do the volcano this way; don’t try to see South Point and Waipiʻo on the same day.

This site is those messages, cleaned up and kept up to date.

First-hand where I can, honest where I can’t. If something is overrated, I’ll say so. If conditions change, like an eruption pausing or a road closing, I update the guide rather than pretending nothing happened.

I write in French and English first; the other languages are carefully translated and reviewed.
